Therefore, this video is the first in my new series on scales and arpeggios – today I am laying the groundwork and I’ll be doing a deeper dive into each of the 3 principles (and more!) in future videos.

There are so many ways to play and practice scales! You can find dozens and dozens of different opinions on how to teach and how to play scales. There is NO definitive right answer – just many schools of thought. SO… this video is about the strategy I have developed to teach scales to my students, based on my experience as a pianist and professor of piano.

In this video, I share three principles for playing scales that I teach my students, so that you can apply these principles to your own playing and play scales with more ease and proficiency. You can watch it right here!

What are your strategies for scale playing? Do you practice scales and arpeggios on a regular basis? Why or why not?
